Murata Manufacturing Co. is considering additional investment to expand production capacity for multilayer ceramic capacitors as runaway demand from AI servers continues to accelerate.

The Kyoto-based company is securing materials and holding discussions with suppliers and other related parties, President Norio Nakajima told Bloomberg News on Tuesday. Murata is the global leader in MLCC technology and Nakajima said he aims to provide a precise figure on any increased spending when the company announces its earnings on Oct. 30.
