Dyson Ltd. has spent years convincing consumers that its sleekly designed, high-tech products are worth the steep premium over budget alternatives. But after testing its new $500 artificial intelligence-powered toothbrush, I found that the company's usual formula hasn't translated particularly well to this new category — at least not yet.

The CameraJet, which launched in early September, uses AI and a built-in camera to provide real-time feedback on brushing technique, oral hygiene and areas users may have missed. It also combines brushing and water flossing in a single device. (The “jet” in the name refers to a burst of water or mouthwash directed toward plaque, designed to mimic conventional flossing.)
