There are recordings out of the last moments of the flight that crashed near Palm Springs. You might be inclined to listen to it, just out of curiosity. Don't listen to it. It won't teach you anything. It'll just distress you and make you sad.

So this is basically saying they got a super smart AI to inspect the brain of a smaller AI, via the weights, and they were able to understand its brain for the first time. And they confirmed this by modifying it and having its behavior change. Could be massive.

An unreleased model going from memory leak to root shell on a 9.8 kernel bug in 53 minutes. https://www.csoonline.com/article/4242724/anthropic-ai-model-finds-linux-kernel-bug-that-leads-to-remote-root-access.html

Those responsible are human garbage for presenting the story like this. The implication is that girl pilots produce fireballs, so girls shouldn't be pilots. But when you read into the story you see she was a total badass who likely just made a mistake and/or hit some really bad luck. Fuck you for this.

I’m sad about Patrick Stewart dying. To me he was Picard, and he taught me a great deal about how to be a man. None of this clicked for me until I was in my 30s and 40s, but he basically gave me the model of a multi-dimensional leader. I absolutely loved how he was simultaneously so strong and so intellectual. So forceful and so empathic. The model of the Ready Room is pretty much still my ideal leadership style. Shit goes down and he calls everyone in and gets their opinions first. People vary widely. There is discussion. He might ask some questions. And then he decides. And that’s it. And there was so much vulnerability. And so many layers. And weaknesses. And they all just made his strength and overall character so much more solid and whole. I’ve never been interested in celebrities. Or meeting them. But I’ve fantasized multiple times about meeting him in like an airport or something and like having a friend mentor conversation with Patrick Picard. But I never went to see him anywhere because like, what do you even say? You have 30 seconds and it’s already been said by thousands of others, because we all feel this way about him. Still I’d have loved to have that pretend airport conversation. Anyway. It’s all silly. It was a show. And Picard was a character. And writers wrote the lines. But it’s weird that at a moment where so many weird things are now possible, the force of how real a teacher Picard was to me is just as strong as ever. Like I know for certain that I’d be less wise as a person if not for Captain Picard. I’m thankful for that. And I hope he’s resting well. 🫡🥺😢

I think the tangible tipping point for local models will come when you can have Opus 5.5 level intelligence at the house with nothing more than a Mac mini. Rented GPUs are a nice middle step, but even that is super fringe. I could be wrong here, but I feel like there is some magical “good enough” line for the majority of human work, and that Opus 5.5 is pretty close.

So many people have wanted this service forever. So much so that there are many companies that only do this. And CF releases it as a feature.

Karpathy estimates only about 5,000 people have seen the most advanced internal AI uses. Basically very few people are using the top edge of what AI is capable of. And a massive number haven't used any at all. https://x.com/karpathy/status/2109361546505966046

I've been waiting for this for a very long time! Upgrading the LifeOS Statusline using this now...

I recommend having your ideal state for the project be the single doc you develop against. We shouldn’t be stating goals one place and doing plans and specs and decisions in a bunch of other places. I have one doc. The Ideal State Artifact. Please try it, MattGoat.

A really good articulation of an important point.

@trq212 Hey man, are you able to make a piece of content on Artifacts and how they're different from just having well-tuned workflows and outputs within your harness? I can have updates and output formats for my existing projects, so what's the advantage exactly?

Karpathy argues that enjoying educational clips can fool us into thinking we understand them. Actual learning takes sustained effort and active processing. https://x.com/karpathy/status/1756380066580455557

You know what I find super exciting about all this Agentic stuff is authors being able to publish a request for payment on their content on the website, along with an interface for submitting micro payments. There was a system a long time ago called Flutter, and it worked by people setting up a Flutter account beforehand, which is problem number one. If the site that they navigated to also had Flutter, you could hit a Flutter button, and it would take a percentage of whatever you had in your Flutter budget and send it to that person. I think we could do the same sort of thing, but all brokered by our Digital Assistant. It would know how much we have per month to give to people, and we would have some sort of payment mechanism, which could be micro payments through Stripe or whatever platform can do it well. Anything hitting that content has the option to pay for it with micro payments, or even larger payments if it wanted to. If a user or an agent found it extremely useful to it or to its principal, it could pay a little more. Because agents are working 24/7 and they're able to do so many things at once, it could potentially be doing research and maybe paying out $2, $5, or $12 to people who provided the best content for their research. What's cool about this is that there weren't many manual steps involved. Creators just need to configure their sites to support a payment endpoint, and people also need to configure their harnesses to support payments. There has to be some sort of agreement between the user and their agent about how much money they're willing to spend in this way. After that, it just happens naturally as part of agent activity. This is the type of thing that gets me really excited about AI because it's a very human thing to pay somebody for value that they have provided, and managing the infrastructure of doing it has always been the problem. I'm really optimistic about this as an option. I think I'm going to try to put something together around it, but if you know of any systems that are working towards us, let me know.

Agentic stuff involves so many variables. I would t jump to a massive model nerf as anywhere near the top of the list. And even if it were model related it’s far more likely to be an outage.
